ストークの意味(stalk,strok,stoke)

概要

ストーカーの動詞系ストークの

スペルがわからなくなったので、めも。

わからなくて困らない気もするけど、気にしない。

説明

ストーカーのストークはstalkでした。

ただし、stalkには異なる2つの意味があるようです。

ひとつは、「植物の茎」や「何かしら伸びている物」 という意味。

weblioで調べてみたら、「煙突」や「ワイングラスの脚」と書かれていました。

もうひとつは、「狩るためにおいかける」、「恐怖を感じさせるほど長い間みる」、「つける」、「闊歩する」という意味。

stalk2の2がよく知ってる意味。つきまわす。

stalk2の1はもっと怖い意味。命の危険を感じます。

stalk2の3は2とは方向性が違う意味。

storkは、長いくちばしと長い足をもつ白い鳥っていう意味。

でも、ぐぐったらコウノトリがいっぱい。

wikipediaでは、family Ciconiidaeの鳥とあるので、

コウノトリという意味で間違いないようです。

stokeは、火をくべるという意味と

何かの増加・促進を引き起こすという意味らしい。

イングランドのサッカークラブstoke city FC と

同じ綴りだが、こっちのstokeは、

地名Stock-Upon-Treatからきているみたいで、

Wikipediaによれば、

Stoke derives from the Old English stoc, a word that at first meant little more than place

とあるので、火をくべる意味のstokeとはつながりがなさそうです。

概要

Caps LockをCtrlに置き換える方法を検索。

ぐぐったところ、いろいろでてきた。

設定が残る方法は、

あとで元に戻すのに苦労すると思ったので、

一時的に変更する方法にした。

setxkbmapコマンドで変更できたので、メモ。

方法

setxkbmap -option ctrl:nocaps

setxkbmap -option ctrl:swapcaps

terminalで上の２つを実行すれば良い。
